Affinité Instruments is a MedTech startup offering innovative biosensing solutions in life sciences. We have developed and commercialized innovative label-free sensing instrumentation to accelerate early biologic discovery. Currently, we are looking for candidates passionate in building a life science startup to join us, with a goal of offering effective and economical bio-monitoring solutions in clinical R&D and personalized medicine. Job Description

Position: Full-time (Remote)
Location: Waterloo or Toronto area
Experience: 1-2 years
Education: Master or Doctoral Degree Preferably in Chemistry or Biochemistry

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of hands-on experiences developing and validating assay based on surface plasmon resonance or ELISA. You will work as part of an open, multi-disciplinary team to bring innovations based on Affinité’s biosensing technology to address global challenges faced by researchers and clinicians. Your work environment is a great opportunity for both personal and professional growth. Your daily responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Work with the product development team to identify new product opportunities and assist in customer demo, product presentations and troubleshooting

  • Support the marketing team to develop application notes and white papers based on developed assays or new application.

  • Generate and qualify leads via phone, email or web metings

  • Provide training and appliation fit to existing and new customer

  • Participate in promotional events such as symposia, conference as a chance to interact with end users

  • Update the CRM database through lead and pipeline management

  • Work closely with the Product Development team to assist in hardware and software evaluation and upgrade

  • Research and evaluate new markets and business opportunities, prospect for new leads

  • Continuously innovate the sales process to be at the forefront of sales, business and technology

    • Enthusiastic traveller (10-25% of the time, Canada and International) to end user’s site or to particpate events
    • Professionalism with good business acumen and attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Qualifications, Skills and Experiences

    • Minimum Master’s degree in science or engineering with minimum 1 year of industry experience

    • Advanced degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, biology, molecular biology or other scientific discipline

    • Minimum experience of 2 years in assay development is required with a preference for experience in Surface Plasmon Resonance or ELISA

    • Technical sales experiences a big plus

    • English and/or French minimum. Additional languages at business level a big plus

    Research & Development

    Job Description

    Position: Full-time
    Location: Montréal, Québec
    Experience: 0-1 years
    Education: Bachelor or Master Candidate Preferably in Chemistry or Biochemistry


    • Source immunoassay and genomic kits from various suppliers
    • Validate performance of kits based on manufacturers’ specs
    • Perform SPR testing and develop SOPs
    • Develop basic marketing material for kit commercialization
    • May have to support customer inquiries periodically

    Marketing & Sales

    Job Description

    We are looking to a self-motivated digital marketing content developer to work remotely on a part-time basis. This position is designed to be flexible for the potential candidate by putting the emphasis on achieved objectives instead of on tight deadlines. Your responsibilities would entail:

    • devising an online communication strategy for company’s core technology

    • generating a narrative for online storytelling about our value propositions and products

    • generating articles, blogs, news, presentation slides and even videos for online publication

    • updating and adding website contents in steps with company development

    Preferred Profile

    Flexible work style in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment with accelerated growth objectives. The position requires part-time hours between 10-20 hours per week based on home-office. Project deadline is pre-agreed to give the candidate the maximum schedule flexibility. Have PR status and work permit in Canada.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experiences

    • Excellent command of written and oral English communication. French and other additional languages welcome

    • Relevant college or university level digital marketing degree

    • Hands-on experiences developing online marketing strategy and storyboard. Hardware products preferred.

    • At least one example of generating and managing content for an onine platform such as LinkedIn

    • Self-organized and respectful of project deadlines

    • Photo and video shooting and editing skill a big plus

    • Website design experiences a plus
